The cast iron bar head is the core cast iron component of traditional wooden plows, mainly used to connect the plowshare with the livestock traction system and bear the core force during plowing. Its technical characteristics and applications are as follows:
1、 Structure, Function, and Design
Core role
As the load-bearing hub at the front end of the wooden plow, the pole head is connected to the eaves and body of the pole through a pole (a 1-foot long top support wooden pole) to ensure that the plow is evenly stressed during cultivation.
At the end, there is a wooden hook (about 5 inches long) used to hook the pull plate behind the mule and horse, transmitting traction to the plow.
2、 Materials and Casting Technology
Cast iron material
Traditionally, high-strength gray cast iron (such as HT200-300) is used, which requires high wear resistance to resist soil friction.
Modern optimization for ductile iron (such as QT400-18), yield strength ≥ 250MPa, toughness increased by 30%, and service life extended.
Key points of casting
Huapian interface: precise "orifice" is reserved during casting to ensure a tight fit between the Huapian and the rod head, enhancing penetration into the soil.
Heat treatment: Annealing process eliminates internal stress and avoids brittle cracking during cultivation.
